Module 5 – Lesson 2.3:
Imagery and mantra
Mudras (hand positions) are rarely practised alone – when combined with a breathing practice, imagery or meditation, they create a synergistic effect and enhance the outcome of any one practice alone. The essential effect is communicated more directly to our body and mind.
Below is a simple practice combining imagery (visualisation), mudra (hand position) and mantra (sound). You think of an image that creates a sense of calm strength in heart and mind. An image in nature, a time when you felt calm and strong. If no image appears, you think the words, calm strength, choosing to water these seeds for you.
Calm strength ~ 7 minutes

Sensing your emotions and your breath ~ 10 minutes
Feelings and emotions generate feedback mechanisms to our brain. We may repress our emotions however this can take tremendous energy and ultimately creates dis-ease in body and mind.
Welcoming all our emotions and understanding their purpose can be the first step to being more healthy and happy. Contrasting opposites of emotions assists us to come into balance and invites us to drop the ‘clinging’ (see Lesson 1.3).
