Important reminder: With all breathing practices it is important to start slowly, and if at any point you get dizzy or nauseous, to stop the practice. This may not imply that the practice is not for you – you need to build slowly. If unsure please email me or contact your health professional.

Chandra bhedhana pranayama ~ 7.5 minutes

Chandra is the moon, bhedhana means passing through. In chandra bhedana inhalation is done up through the left nostril and exhalation out through the right. This practice is a visualisation and ‘felt’ sense of the breath moving up the left nostril and out the right nostril. It is normal that one nostril may seem blocked – this should improve over time.

It is said that energy passes through ida (the cool chandra pathway) on inhalation and through pingala (the warm surya pathway) on exhalation. These are larger energy pathways that balance energy from the sun and moon, bringing us into equilibrium.
